We are staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins in October and wonder what is the best way to get to and from each park, particularly after Illuminations at Epcot and from Animal Kingdom to make 6:30 Mickey's BBQ reservations. Also, to Ohana breakfast one day.

    Kelly:

The best way to get to each park, except for the Magic Kingdom, is the bus system.  But at Fort Wilderness, the campus is so vast, there are two bus systems: an internal bus system and the external Disney bus system.  If you're not on the 2700 or 2800 cabin loop, you'll want to catch the closest internal bus to the Outpost.  At the Outpost, there will be Disney buses to take you to the parks.  If you want more flexibility, you may want to rent a golf cart during your visit so you can skip the internal bus system.  (You can also cruise around the campsite loops and look at the Halloween decorations!)  You'll need to make reservations by calling 407-824-2742.

Although Mickey's Backyard BBQ is at Fort Wilderness, it's at the opposite end of the campus from the Outpost, but only a short 8-minute or so bus ride (because of stops) on the internal Orange Line.  Give yourself 30 minutes from the Animal Kingdom to the fort and 15 to 20 minutes from Outpost.  HOWEVER, I recommend that you arrive at least 45 minutes before the BBQ starts so you can get in line and get a good seat!

For Ohana at the Polynesian, you will take the internal bus to the Settlement bus stop and then make the short walk down to the pier.  The boat launch will take you to the Contemporary where you can hop on the monorail to the Polynesian.  Keep in mind that sometimes the boat may not arrive in time for you to make a really early seating.  When you check-in, make sure that you tell them about your early breakfast and get their recommendation.  You may also want to call the front desk the night before and make sure the boat launch will be arriving in time for you to make your seating.  If not, they will give you an alternate route, if you need it.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
