hi, we will be staying at the fort wilderness cabin ... first time... do you know if we should rent the electric cart? i heard its a huge facillty and i have 4 kids, so after a long day, i don't want to hear them complaining about walking "forever&quo

    Lynn:

I have stayed at the fort with and without a cart....

While it is more convenient to have one of the electric golf carts, keep in mind that they are not a necessity, especially if you will only be using them to get to the pier for the boat to the Magic Kingdom or the Outpost to catch a bus.  The fort runs internal buses that stop at several central cabin loops and will drop you off within 50 yards of your cabin.

With that said, we like to rent the carts to make the most of our stay and to look at the campsite decorations. We have also rented them for just one or two days of our stay versus the entire week.  If you're planning on heading to the parks every day and don't want to shell out the approximately $54 a day for the cart, I suggest requesting Disney to put you in a cabin near one of the internal bus stops and seeing how your first day goes before renting one.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
