Hi,
Meegan, welcome back to
planDisney! You must be so excited for this stay at Fort Wilderness! I will be staying there this year as well, and I am super excited to share some tips, as well as answer this question for you. Let’s get started!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness was opened in 1971 just a couple of weeks after the opening of
Magic Kingdom Park. This original resort has some great amenities and activities when you aren’t visiting the parks. In terms of transportation, there is a loop of buses that will keep you inside of the resort. There are also buses that take you to the parks along with water transportation. All of the Disney transportation to the parks generally start operation 45 minutes before park opening. With your 7:35 AM reservation for Ohana I would actually recommend a rideshare. Even with Early Theme Park Entry at the beginning of the day starting as early as 8:30 AM it would not be attainable. Travel from Fort Wilderness would be anywhere from 60 to 85 minutes, which would not get you to your reservation on time.
Minnie Vans Connectd by Lyft is a popular option. If you do not use rideshare often you would need to download the Lyft app to secure a ride. Minnie Vans will accommodate up to seven guests and be a quick, comfortable, and convenient travel option. You also may be able to change your breakfast time if you do not want to order a rideshare. But that the free Disney transportation will not be able to get you to your current reservation time. Ohana for breakfast is quintessential Disney, the spread is really nice. Make sure you go there hungry, and don't forget to take a swig of that POG juice for me!
Fort Wilderness Resort has so many activities for you to do on the days that you don’t visit the parks. One of the activities I will absolutely be experiencing is visiting the
Tri-Circle D Ranch. With over 90 of the happiest horses on earth, stopping by and saying hello is a must in my book. You can schedule trail rides, as well as carriage rides if you wanted to take a ride with them. Pony rides and wagon rides are only available on a walk up basis and little ones absolutely love it. If you have true sports loving people in your group, they may want to try their hand at archery or even fishing. All of these activities are just part of the reason folks book this resort year after year.
I hope you enjoy your stay at this resort as well as that breakfast. There isn’t anything that that restaurant serves that isn’t delicious so I’m sure you will.
Have a magical day!
Jeremy A.
