We are staying at a DVC resort this summer. While we do not require a handicapped accessible room we do need a shower stool and toilet seat riser. When we cruise, these things are available upon request, are these available from housekeeping at our resort?

Hi Susan and welcome home and most importantly, welcome back to planDisney! I’m glad that you and your family are able to enjoy the magic of Disney on land and at sea. It’s the level and quality of service during our Disney Vacation Club stays, along with how accommodating Disney and its Cast Members are for all guests, that keeps our family coming back year after year.

Susan, I’m happy to inform you that you can request items such as shower stools and toilet seat risers for your DVC villa. I personally confirmed this with a Cast Member. However, just be aware that similar to other requests, these items are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. If these items are important for your stay, you may want to consider bringing your own to ensure that you and your family have them at your disposal during your visit. If packing these items are not practical for your visit, you can always have these items delivered to your resort. Just know that the resorts often charge a handling fee for packages shipped to you at your resort.

In addition, I’d like to provide some additional resources that may be helpful to you and your family during your visit. If you are visiting Walt Disney World, the resort offers many tools and resources to learn more about accessibility options to prepare you for your upcoming visit. For example, there are guide maps for the four Walt Disney World theme parks for guests with disabilities. In addition, Walt Disney World also offers an Accessibility Planning Guide & Recommendations that provides helpful info on accessing attractions and meeting characters, companion restrooms, and break locations, which may be especially helpful for your upcoming July visit! Speaking of which, are you excited for the debut of the new Soarin' Across America this summer to coincide with America's 250th birthday celebration? Hope you're ready for takeoff during your next visit!

Susan, I hope you find this information helpful. Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me and the other panelists here at planDisney!
