If we are staying DVC in July 2013 and are booking August 2012 can we borrow points from 2014 when it is a year from our vacation but 2 years from our booking date? DVC member.com didn't show the points from 2014. Thanks

    Hi Jeff.

Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question.

Figuring out how far ahead you can borrow for a reservation depends on the issue month of your own DVC Points as well as the reservation date you are requesting.

When the 11 month window for your Home Resort opens, and the 7 month Window for other resorts, whatever points you can use (banked, this year's points or your next use year's points) are available to you. Specific Guidelines regarding borrowing Vacation Points can be found on page 6 of the 2012 Vacation Planner Reservation Tools booklet which was mailed to each Member. You can also find details on this information at dvcmember.com

Since I just completed some new DVC reservations myself which involved borrowing points, I found it exceptionally helpful to call DVC Member Services at 800-800-9800. The Cast Member I spoke with was fantastic at advising me exactly how many of my points were available to me based on my vacation reservation date as well as my DVC points issue month and usage year. The Cast Member also reviewed with me all the stipulations regarding changes or cancellations to a reservation where borrowed points were involved.

If you have additional questions, I'd recommend that you visit my friend and fellow Disney Moms Panelist Andrea H. She's a Disney Vacation Club Specialist and has been so helpful to me since I finally became a member too!

    Welcome Home Jeff!
Wishing you a simply Magical time during your next DVC stay!
