We are staying at disneyworld at all star resort for 10 days and then doing a 3 night cruise afterwards. What is the best way of handling our luggage? Is there a limit on the amount of luggage on the cruise or can the hotel hold our bags until after?

Hi there, Jacob! Welcome to planDisney!

What an exciting Disney vacation you’re about to take! I love any kind of Disney cruise, but my absolute favorite kind is a Land and Sea adventure, where we visit a Disney Park and sail on a Disney cruise on the same trip! I know that trips like this come with more logistics planning, so I’d be happy to share the best way of handling your luggage to and from your cruise.

While your luggage can’t be left or stored at your hotel in Walt Disney World Resort while you’re on board your cruise, it’s a very easy process to take it to and from your cruise. Guests are mailed luggage tags to their home before their sail date, which will label the luggage belonging to each stateroom for the day you embark on your cruise.

The number of luggage tags depends on the number of guests per stateroom, as well as the number of nights sailed. For sailings that are 5 nights or longer, each guest in the stateroom is mailed 2 luggage tags. For sailings that are 4 nights or less, each guest in the stateroom is mailed 1 luggage tag. This means that the luggage allowance on board is 1 bag per guest for sailings that are 4 nights and shorter, and 2 bags per guest for sailings that are 5 nights and longer.

However, if you have more than 1 bag each for your sailing, you can request extra luggage tags at Bell Services during your stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. With that in mind, however, I also suggest keeping in mind the stateroom size while you’re packing for your trip. While Disney Cruise Line staterooms offer plenty of storage options, including for luggage underneath the bed (it’s pretty genius!), I still highly recommend leaving plenty of space to easily move around your stateroom.

If you’re worried about packing clothing essentials, I also want to remind you that there are super convenient laundry options on board your cruise. I always pack for my cruise with the plan to do laundry on board (multiple times, actually), and it especially helps tremendously on our Land and Sea Disney World/Disney Cruise vacations!

Lastly, since we're on the subject of packing luggage, I'll share this helpful Disney Cruise Packing List, which definitely guides me when I'm packing for my Disney cruise!

Jacob, I hope I packed this answer full of great packing tips! I wish you such incredible memories on your upcoming Disney vacation! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
