I am staying at the Disney's Port Orleans Resort- Riverside, How is this place. What is this Resort like and where would you recommend what building is good to stay in. I am getting a king bed. I am going for New Years so want to make it a special weekend.

    Hi Dawn Marie!
You just happened to have picked my favorite "Moderate" resort at Walt Disney World. I think it is a wonderful place! The theming is supposed to reflect a Louisiana bayou type atmosphere and has two types of lodging...Alligator Bayou (dense backwoods theming) and Magnolia Bend (Southern mansion type buildings). I prefer Alligator Bayou, preferably buildings 10-14. The accomodations are well appointed and comfortable. The resort layout is quite large and there are four separate bus stops around the resort.
Ol' Man Island is the main pool complex and is fantastic!! There is a large pool with a waterfall and decent sized slide. There is also a bar for poolside refreshment.
I think POR offers the best overall food court on property. There are several choices at all 3 meals and it has very good food.
Also, if Yee Ha Bob happens to be playing on any of the night s of your stay, make sure to grab the family and head on over to the lounge. It is a GREAT time!!
Obviously, I have lots of good things to say about POR, and it really is the only moderate resort I have at will stay at.
I hope this helps and I wish you a Magical vacation!! :)
