Do you have to be staying at a Disney Resort in order to get into Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day?

    Hi Donna,

You don't have to stay at a Disney Resort to be able to go to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day.  However, you do have to get up early!  The park often reaches capacity on Christmas, and once it does no more guests are allowed to enter.

Staying at a Disney Resort doesn't guarantee you entrance to the Magic Kingdom.  Instead, as a resort guest, you are guaranteed entrance into a park.  If Magic Kingdom is full, you'll be directed to Epcot, Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.

Your best bet to guarantee getting in to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day is to arrive early (an hour before opening) and plan on staying for the day.  Remember too that on days like this, you're going more for the atmosphere than the attractions.  When a park reaches capacity the wait time for attractions can easily be over an hour.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
