Staying at a Disney resort. If I take a bus to MK, how can I take the monorail to visit the Grand Floridian?

    Hi Donna!
    Welcome back to planDisney.

Thank you for sending us this question. I am very happy to talk about Disney transport with you!

You are already halfway there, with taking a Disney bus from your Disney Resort hotel to Magic Kingdom Park.  From there, however, you have 3 ways of getting to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Firstly, the monorail!  Walk from the bus stops, past the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park and you'll see the signs for the monorail ahead of you.  You'll need to take the Resort Monorail - you don't need anything other than yourself - no tickets, no proof of residency at a Disney Resort hotel - just walk up the ramp and board the monorail.  It will take you on a little journey around Seven Seas Lagoon, calling at Disney's Contemporary Resort, the Transportation and Ticket Center, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort before coming to your final stop, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  It's a great way to get a peek into these gorgeous hotels!

The Resort Monorail begins operating 30 minutes prior to when Magic Kingdom Park opens and stops one hour after Magic Kingdom Park closes.

Probably the quickest way to get to Disney's Grand Floridian is by boat.  You will board this at the boat dock just to the left of the entrance to the Monorail ramp.  The boat is on a continuous loop between Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

For the more energetic among us there is also a walking path straight to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort from the Magic Kingdom entrance.  I have it on good authority that it takes around 12-15 minutes to walk the path.

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions, and you can send me a direct question if you wish.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation to Walt Disney World!
