I am staying on Disney property this year while my teen is staying off property with a group. He has a magic band and his own Disney account. We are linked as family. Can I give him charging privileges by providing his magic band number at my check-in?

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel, MARCIA!

Congratulations on your upcoming vacation. You’ll be hanging out with Mickey Mouse before you know it!

Personally, I would go ahead and add your teen to your upcoming vacation as if he’s staying with you. This way all charging privileges will still be linked back to your room as all guests do need to be staying at a Disney Resort hotel in order to use a MagicBand for charging purchases. If you’ve already made your reservation online, I would recommend reaching out to Guest Services directly and a Cast Member can walk you through that process.

However, if you would rather your teenager not be on your room reservation, I do have a back up solution. A Disney Gift Card! It would be a quick and easy way to give your teenager charging capabilities without having to adjust your existing reservation.
