If you are staying at a Disney hotel, are you able to book a reservation to Disneyland or California Adventure resort even if it shows as unavailable on your Magic Key reservations?

    Hi Christopher,

Thanks for visiting planDisney! It sounds like you are considering adding a stay at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels to your next trip to the parks. FANTASMIC idea! I just got back from a stay at the Disneyland Hotel, and boy oh boy, did I have a swell time!

Us Magic Key holders are always looking to enjoy the magic and adventure in the parks. Unfortunately, staying at a Disney hotel does not guarantee us access to the parks. I know that might be disappointing news, but I can say with confidence that a stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel is a magical experience, regardless if you go to the parks or not. As a Magic Key holder, there are currently some hotel promotions that you can take part in. See if these promotions overlap with days you can make a park reservation with your Magic Key. Make sure you are logged into your MyDisney account so you can see the hotel deals offered, as they are exclusive to Magic Key holders.

From personal experience, I have stayed at a Disney hotel without going to the parks and had a magical time. In the summer, I like to enjoy the pool and catch some sun. Then, in the evening, I head down to Downtown Disney and enjoy the entertainment and food. I recently visited The Vista, which is the upstairs lounge at the Parkside Market. It was nice to be up there and overlook part of Downtown Disney. If you ever visit, I recommend getting the “On the Wing.” It comes in a really cool bird glass. I like to end the night by heading to the LIVE! Stage to hear some great music.

I hope this information is helpful, Christopher. If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.

    Best of luck!
