I am staying at Coronado Springs with my 5 yr old and I hope its kid friendly. My neighbor said I made the wrong choice can anyone tell me :) I am having his 6th b-day at the Coral Restaurant. So did I do ok?......is there something I should do different?

Hi Kimberly!  I happen to love the Coronado Springs resort and probably for the reason your neighbor mentioned you made a mistake.  It is a Disney convention resort therefore you might find large groups there at times.  I like it for that reason as while all of these people are in their meetings and events the common areas are free and not crowded which can include the great pool area. Each cluster of buildings also has a pool so you are never far from a quick refreshing splash.

Many guests tend to think that the Caribbean Resort is more "kid friendly" but to me it is over run with too many kids and the rooms are old and outdated. Many buildings are far from the active areas and there isn't a main lobby area if you ever have a question and need to run there for the answer. It is totally separated from the rest of the resort and basically not accessible to the guests once they have checked in.`

Another favorite for moderate resort choice is Port Orleans. It has been under going a massive refurbishment adding queen size beds to the rooms and offering some new themed rooms as well. If you are looking for another kind of experience you could try the Fort Wilderness cabins...this is a fun and very peaceful part of Walt Disney World.

In the end I say stay with what you have.....enjoy the facilities there and don't worry about what anyone else has to add or say as we all have our favorites.  Your birthday dinner at Coral Reef is bound to excite him as he watches all the fish swim by. Each table will have excellent views! While in Epcot don't forget to stop in at Turtle Talk with Crush, Innoventions, and the great character meet and greet location.  Have a magical birthday trip for you and your son!
