We are staying at Coronado Springs the week of Thanksgiving. We booked a standard room. I know the tower is newer but do you recommend staying in casitas or cabanas over the tower for a standard room? I requested cabanas but not sure where we will be

Hi, Russell!  It's wonderful to see you back here at planDisney with another great question!

I'm so excited to hEAR that you will be spending Thanksgiving week at Walt Disney World Resort!  Disney magic is certainly something to be thankful for!  I think you're going to love your stay at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.  I stayed at this resort hotel for the first time last fall, and it quickly became one of my favorites.  Although Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is considered a moderate-level resort, I think its incredible selection of restaurants and lounges and sprawling pool complex puts it on par with many of Walt Disney World's deluxe resort hotels.

As for which section of the resort to stay in, that is really a matter of personal preference.  Gran Destino Tower boasts the newest rooms in the resort and some spectacular views from the upper floors.  In my opinion, the tower rooms have a more upscale vibe than the other areas of the resort.  That being said, the other areas of the resort are also quite nice.  All of the rooms at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort have recently been refurbished and have a clean, modern, spacious feel.  I recommend that you take a look at the room photos on the Walt Disney World website and search for some virtual tours on YouTube to help you make your decision.

The Gran Destino Tower rooms are a separate booking category from the other areas of the resort, so if you decide you'd rather stay in the tower, you'll need to modify your reservation.  One advantage of staying in Gran Destino Tower is its central location.  If you decide to keep your standard room reservation, I think that requesting a room in the Cabanas Village section of the resort is a good idea.  This area of the resort is also located near all of the amenities.  Please be aware, however, that while Cast Members will do their best to honor your room request, it cannot be guaranteed.

During your stay, be sure to stop by Dahlia Lounge for a drink and to take in the gorgeous views.  I would also highly recommend a visit to Three Bridges Bar & Grill for some tasty snacks in a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere.  It's the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of theme park fun.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
