Hi Katy!
Welcome to planDisney.
It's always a pleasure to assist my fellow guests from the UK, and I'm happy to help you with your question.
I totally understand your desire to start your day at
Disney's BoardWalk. I did exactly this on my trip last month. It was so lovely to sit and enjoy breakfast on the waterfront of Crescent Lake. It's such a pretty view. (I placed a mobile order at the
BoardWalk Deli - which made it such an easy process, with no queueing, and I took my Resort Refillable Mug for my coffee refills!) After that I couldn't resist having a look around the new
Cake Bake Shop - oh my goodness, it's stunning! and I'm definitely going to plan a sit-down meal there next time.
I used a Lyft rideshare from my Disney Resort hotel to the BoardWalk. Download the app to your phone, and you'll see all the cars available with their various prices. I have always found them efficient and easy to use. They are also relatively inexpensive. I told the driver I was just being dropped off, and no one asked for proof of hotel or dining reservations. However, if the BoardWalk is particularly busy, they might ask for your reservation details, so I can't guarantee 100% that you can be dropped off. If that happens, maybe have your Lyft driver take you around to the EPCOT front entrance so your journey isn't wasted. You'll have to walk through the entire park to get back to the BoardWalk, but that is a 'worst-case scenario' I think it's worth a try!
