Hey there, Tisha! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for sharing your question with us!
You’ve picked a great time to visit Walt Disney World (
spooky season! Woo hoo!) and a wonderful resort hotel for your stay. With its great dining locations like Steakhouse 71 and California Grill, the beautiful views of both Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, and the fact that the Monorail runs through the very center of the building, the Contemporary Resort is one of the most unique hotels at Walt Disney World.
Since your journey starts at the Contemporary, you’ll be riding the
Resort Monorail line, which begins operating 30 minutes before the opening of the Magic Kingdom. The Express Monorail, which goes from the Transportation and Ticket Center directly to Magic Kingdom, and the EPCOT Monorail lines also start running approximately 30 minutes before park opening. Park hours for the fall have not been released yet, but you can find them on the
Hours & Events Calendar about 60 days ahead of the date you plan to visit.
If you are planning on doing a tour at the Magic Kingdom and are worried the Monorail won’t get you there in time, then you’ll be pleased to know that the Contemporary Resort is a short walk from the Magic Kingdom’s front gate. If you need directions, just ask a Cast Member, or you can get step-by-step directions on the
My Disney Experience mobile app. At the time I’m writing this, the My Disney Experience app estimates it to be a 13-minute walk between the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom, and a 28-minute Monorail ride.
I hope this information helps with your vacation planning, Tisha. Pop right back if you have any more questions. Your planDisney pals are here to help!
Magical travels!
