We have a 4yo and 2yo and staying at the Contemporary. We plan to spend all of our park time at the MK, and I am sure some time at DT Disney. Do we need to bring our own stroller or will we be OK renting a stroller from the park?

    Hi Marcia,

Congratulations on your upcoming trip!  The Contemporary Resort is a great choice if your family intends to spend a significant amount of time at the Magic Kingdom, as you'll be able to hop on the monorail or walk over to the park via a short walkway.

Strollers are available for rent at all of the theme parks and at Downtown Disney.  However, with two kids under the age of five, I recommend bringing your own stroller for several reasons.  First, rentals need to be returned as you exit the park.  In my experience, Disney has a mystical ability to lull children to sleep just as their exhausted parents are trying to exit the parks.  Having to carry one or two limp children out of the park and onto the monorail is not my idea of fun!  Strollers do not need to be folded on the monorails, so if your kids fall asleep on the way "home," you'll be able to wheel them right on without disturbing them.  In addition, strollers are convenient for getting around your resort (to and from the pool, etc.), and if you intend to travel to other resorts for dinner, special events, etc.  I find having a stroller at the airport a life saver as well.  It enables me to keep better tabs on my kids in crowded security lines, and they always have a seat at the gate.  Most airlines will allow you to "gate check" your stroller at no charge, so you will literally be able to wheel your kids to the entrance of the plane.  Finally, bringing your own stroller will save you money.  Currently, a double stroller costs $27/day.  You can save a bit with a "length of stay" rental.

If you really don't want to bring your own, but would prefer to have a stroller outside the parks, there are several external vendors who will deliver a stroller to your resort concierge.  To return the stroller, you simply drop it off at the concierge as you check out.   I have used orlandostrollerrentals.com, and had a great experience.

    Have a great trip!
