Hello! We’re staying at the Contemporary and plan to rope drop 1 park each day. Is Disney transportation adequate to get us to each park in time to be near the front of the lines or will we need to find alternatives? Preferably not Minnie vans if possible.

    Hello Edwin!

Welcome to planDisney! Oh boy, Edwin! You are arriving tomorrow! Are your bags packed? Have you checked into your flight or prepared to drive down? I mean, if only they had a super fast monorail-like transportation method to get to the Parks often and quickly!

Walt Disney World Resort transportation is one of my favorite things to discuss. Since you are staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort you have access to a few options to get to the Parks. You are a short 10-15 minute walk to Magic Kingdom Park and this is the way you should be traveling to this Park. Do not bother with the monorail which should be running around 30 minutes before Magic Kingdom Park opens but that won't be enough time to get to the front of the Early Theme Park Entry crowds. I suggest you make a right out of the Resort entrance and follow the signs to Magic Kingdom Park. This Park has serious Early Theme Park entry crowds which get held via ropes near the entrances to Tomorrowland and Fantasyland to the right of Cinderella Castle. Most crowds are trying to enjoy Seven Dwarfs Mine Train so you will see the largest crowd right at the rope facing Mad Tea Party. I have to say, my favorite thing now is to ignore that large crowd and take pictures in front of the empty Cinderella Castle area and order the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow. However, if you are looking to enjoy Seven Dwarfs Mine Train without paying for an Individual Lightning Lane you now know which way to go.

As for EPCOT, the monorail is the solution. You will have to make a transfer to the Transportation & Ticket Center and get on another monorail to EPCOT. I suggest you get to the monorail by 7:30 AM as it looks like Early Entry for EPCOT is 8:30 AM which means the monorail will start moving guests around 8 AM. I want you to be there earlier to get through security and be ready for any possible early arriving monorail. When you reach EPCOT stay to the right as the Early Theme Park entry into the Park is only accessible on the right side after you enter the Park. Once in the Park, they will collect guests in certain areas until it is time. I suggest you review the Park map on the My Disney Experience Mobile App and plot your path.

Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park's only complimentary transportation option from Disney's Contemporary Resort is the bus. Buses start operating around 45 minutes to 1 hour before Park opening. As a result, I would plan to be at that bus stop early to be on the first bus. Disney's Hollywood Studios has a labeled Park entry area just for Resort guests and once you are allowed into the Park you can start moving to your attractions. This could change but it has been my recent experience. As for Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, there could be a rope held by Cast Members at various points once you are allowed into the Park for Early Theme Park entry.

The My Disney Experience App now has a feature that shows when the next bus is arriving at your Resort so make sure to keep an eye on it. If you are desperate or concerned about a bus delay, an option other than Minnie Vans is to hail a rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft.

I hope this helps! Happy Planning!
