Hi Marcee,
We are thrilled to see you stopping by planDisney to ask another great question!
Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of my family's favorite resorts! When we first decided to stay at
Disney's Contemporary Resort, it was not quite in our price range, but I was doing a girls' trip with my girls, my mom, my mom's older sister, her daughter (my older cousin), and my cousin's daughter. So, the proximity to Magic Kingdom, access to the Walt Disney World monorail, and resort amenities seemed fantastic. We picked a Garden Wing room and reduced our stay from six to five nights to fit within our budget. The room and the trip were perfect!
Our Garden Wing rooms have typically been closer to the main building, located in the 5000 section of the Garden Wing building. The first time we stayed here, our room was literally steps away from the pool area. We always request a first-floor room because they have patios and it's just easier to get to the main building or the pool area when you do not have to navigate the elevator or stairs. On another visit, we had a room on Bay Lake, and it was in the 6000 building. Although we were still within easy access to the pool, it was further away from the main building.
Overall, I would say that your room location is important in the Garden Wing, but I think that you are in good shape no matter where your Garden Wing room is when compared to the location of the pirate-themed rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. Although Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is beautiful and now has access to the
Disney Skyliner, Disney's Contemporary Resort has always felt much easier to navigate to me than Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. The bus and monorail transportation are easy to locate and the walking path to Magic Kingdom is fantastic!
We love dining at Chef Mickey's and California Grill when staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort so I do hope you choose this resort hotel and make
advanced dining reservations at these restaurants. We often dine for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and then hang out at the pool before heading to the parks in the afternoon and we do dinner one night at California Grill. The views of Magic Kingdom from the restaurant always take my breath away!
Marcee, I hope this provides some perspective that helps you make a decision. Be sure to check a resort map, make your room location requests via
online check-in, and double-check your room assignment when you receive the automated text message. Remember to also check the
operational updates as you get ready for your next
Incredible visit!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
