We are staying at The Contemporary. How do we get from there to Fort Wilderness?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Melinda!

It sounds like you have so many fun things planned for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. I know that we've already discussed how to get to Disney Springs, which is one of my favorite places to hang out and enjoy in the evenings and now you'd like to head over to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground as well! Melinda, let me tell you that the Fort, as it is lovingly called, is so much fun. My family and I stay there several times throughout the year and always really enjoy it. There is so much to do over there. I think it is a perfect place for you to head over and visit while you are staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

To get to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground from Disney's Contemporary Resort you have a few different options. My preferred method, which I think is the fastest is to walk via the walking path/sidewalk from your resort over to Magic Kingdom Park. When you leave the lobby, you'll turn left and follow the sidewalk. You'll cross the street and go through security once you're closer to Magic Kingdom Park. It's a quick and very easy walk. Once you are over at Magic Kingdom Park, you'll then board one of the boats that are marked for the campground. It's a nice little boat ride over to the Fort. When you are ready to return you can just do this same thing in reverse. Take the boat over to Magic Kingdom Park and then walk back to Disney's Contemporary Resort. The other option is to hop on the Monorail and ride it until it stops at Magic Kingdom Park which will be the 4th stop. You'll exit the monorail and walk over to the boat launches and board that same boat over to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Hopping on the monorail can take a bit longer in my opinion but is a great alternative if there is bad weather. If you happen to be at any of the other Walt Disney World Theme Parks before making your way over to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground that day, you can hop on the bus from that theme park and it will take you directly there as well.

I hope this helps plan out your day a little bit better. If you think of any more questions as your trip gets closer, do stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
