Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kevin!
On my family’s very first Walt Disney World Resort vacation, we stayed with our extended family at
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. That visit was magical in so many ways, and one of my favorite memories (and a photo I have framed in my office) is my PJ-clad daughter eating an ooey, gooey, melty, stretchy marshmallow at the campfire, her eyes swirling with pixie dust (okay, and maybe sugar).
You’ll find the campfire located close to the water behind
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, just between Bay Lake Tower and the main building. There’s a big, silver Mickey Mouse sculpture back there – when you see that, you’ll know you’re headed in the right direction, and make sure you stop for a picture there! Kevin,
here’s a map of Disney’s Contemporary Resort; if you zoom in, you’ll be able to see the exact location of the campfire.
When you arrive at the resort, you can pick up a Resort Recreation Guide from the Front Desk area. This Guide will provide the most up-to-date times for the campfire; the times will also be posted at the resort’s pool, and you may ask any Cast Member. Typically, the
campfires take place around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., depending on when the sun goes down. After the campfire, you might want to stick around for
Movies Under the Stars – that’s one of my Mouseketeers’ favorite activities.
Kevin, my family stayed in the Garden Wing at Disney’s Contemporary Resort last November, and we made a most excellent discovery: the resort’s quiet pool is a fantastic place to watch the
Electrical Water Pageant. We had a warm night, and we watched FROM the pool, which was so lovely, but there are also comfy deck chairs and it’s a perfect view. The night we watched, there was nobody else around!
Enjoy your stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and please come back and see us if we can help as you count down to your visit.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
