Hi - we will be staying at CBR for the 1st time and I booked a preferred building. The description says its a view of everything except the lake but on the resort map it looks like lake/beach is visible from all buildings? I don't understand how that is?

Most of the buildings in the preferred section of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort offer at least some rooms with water views.  However, if you look closely at the map, you'll see that some of those buildings are right up against the parking areas and there are rooms that will face in that direction.  In other words, think of the buildings as a cube and understand that even the backs of those cubes have rooms.  If you've paid for a view of anything other than a water view, you aren't guaranteed to get one.  You can certainly politely inquire at check-in, though, and see what happens.  Good luck!
