Hello Shelley!
Welcome back to planDisney. I am excited to answer another great question regarding your upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place On Earth!
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort comprises five “islands”: Aruba, Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, and Trinidad. So, while you are vacationing in the Sunshine State, indulging in plenty of Micky bars and DOLE Whips, you will feel like you’re on a tropical getaway. Within each island are multiple Guest buildings, each two stories tall, accessed by stairs only. Since your travel partner has difficulty with stairs, especially after a day at the parks, I suggest requesting a ground-floor room when using mobile check-in via the
My Disney Experience app or in person with a Cast Member at reception.
Shelley, have you or your traveling partner considered renting a wheelchair or Electronic Conveyance Vehicle (ECV)? If not, let me tell you a little bit about your options. Option one is to
rent a wheelchair daily or for the duration of your stay (multi-day). Option two is to
rent an ECV/Scooter, which are available daily on a first-come, first-served basis. There are special rules about ECV rentals, mainly that if you are park hopping, the ECV needs to be returned before jumping to your second park, but you can pick up an ECV upon arrival at the next park. Option three is to rent an ECV for the duration of your stay through Disney’s featured provider or a company of your choice. Most of the complimentary transportation options from the resorts to parks will also be able to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters. If you have questions, check out the
Accessibility at Walt Disney World Resort page for more information.
I hope this helps answer your question!
Let me know if you have any other questions about your upcoming stay!
