As they say in the wilderness
"Howdy Sara!" and thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with such a great question.
My family and I have absolutely adored our many stays over the yEars within the beautifully rustic home-away-from-home-sweet-home
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort which is why I'm super excited to know you're planning towards your very own stay in the near future.
One of the reasons we love
The Fort as it's sometimes known is that it's so very peaceful and yet is only a short 20 minute or so
ferry boat ride away via the Settlement marina to the enchantment of the Magic Kingdom Park. I'd like to try and reassure you that I've never had to walk very far from our Cabin to the nearest bus stop and it's always been exceptionally convenient with very little wait time to catch an internal Fort Wilderness bus (or shuttle) from the multiple bus stops dotted around this large Resort. These air conditioned shuttle buses comfortably transport Guests to either their own Cabin or Camping Loop bus stop, the
Meadow Trading Post stop (where the main pool is located), the Settlement stop (where the
Trail's End Restaurant & Pioneer Hall and marina are located) or the Outpost stop where Guests change
buses for all Disney Theme Parks (except Magic Kingdom Park) and Disney Springs. Plus of course you do have the option to drive your vehicle to the outpost and park before boarding Disney transportation.
