Kerrin, hello and welcome to
planDisney. You are in for a real treat staying at the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. My family and I stay there a few times a year and absolutely love it! If you haven't already thought about it, I'd highly recommend
renting a golf cart to enjoy while you are there. You can find so many fun things to do at the campground but it's a big place and a lot of things are spread out. Renting a golf cart makes it so much easier to get around. You can rent one directly from the campground which is what we typically do.
Right now, Kerrin, the only boat transportation from Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is back and forth to Magic Kingdom Park. The other boat routes have not yet come back to us since Walt Disney World shut down in 2020. It's hard to say what will return before your trip in August, however, so I would defiantly keep checking back. You can also ask at the Outpost, which is the front desk area when you arrive and they will let you know what transportation options are currently being provided.
If you'd like to get over to Disney's Wilderness Lodge from the campground, it is actually pretty easy. You will first hop on a boat over to Magic Kingdom Park. Once there, you'll transfer boat routes to the boat designated for Disney's Wilderness Lodge. The boat launch area for both resorts is right there together so it's just a quick and simple transfer.
Are you planning on enjoying
Geyser Point Bar & Grill while you are visiting Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Kerrin? It's one of my favorite spots to hang out on a beautiful day. The setting is amazing nestled right on the lake. There are plenty of comfy couches and tables and chairs to enjoy. My favorite menu item is the cheesy bbq brisket dip with house-made chips. It is scrape-the-plate-clean delicious! I highly recommend it.
I hope you enjoy your stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If you have any other questions about staying there, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help.
Happy camping!
Jackie H.
