Howdy Delaney and welcome to planDisney! I see you have an upcoming stay at the
Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort. Our family loves the new cabins as they perfectly incorporate rustic and outdoor feels with modern amenities. Let’s talk about your options for getting around the Campgrounds!
While it is certainly possible to drive a car from your cabin to the front of the resort to catch buses to the theme parks and
Disney Springs (assuming there are parking spaces available), you won’t be able to access other parts of the sprawling Fort Wilderness Resort with your car. For example, you cannot park a car at Pioneer Hall where
Trail’s End Restaurant,
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue (both of which I highly recommend, especially if you’re a fan of delicious fried chicken!) are located, nor can you park a car near the
Boat Launch to Magic Kingdom, or the
Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area. Without
a golf cart rental, you’ll have to rely on the Resort’s internal bus loops or the walking paths to get you to those locations. And speaking from personal experience, these locations are a long walk from the Cabins!
The guests at Fort Wilderness Resort go all out on their golf carts, making it a fun and unique experience. They certainly get creative on how they decorate their golf carts, including lights, garlands, and flags. You'll also definitely see a sprinkle of Disney magic in the decor as well! If you're lucky, you may even catch one of the many golf cart parades that occur during certain holidays.
Delaney, I hope this information is helpful as you consider getting around Fort Wilderness. If you have any more questions about this Resort, Walt Disney World, or Disney vacation planning, please do not hesitate to
contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
