We are staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Do we need a car to get around?

    Hiya Joanne!

Welcome to planDisney, the most magical place in the wilderness! I am so thrilled that you stopped by and asked us this question, as I also got to stay at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort with my family and loved it. There is truly nothing quite like getting the calmness of the woods while also being a few minutes away from exciting Magic Kingdom Park. And do I even need to mention fireworks from the beach?

On my last trip to Fort Wilderness, I did not have my own car with me. While it was possible to walk to the pool or other offerings of the Resort, they were sometimes longer walks and not ideal when visiting in the Florida heat! Therefore, although they are not required, golf carts are incredibly convenient while staying at the Resort and can be rented directly through Disney. Since they are so popular, I recommend calling (407) 824-2742 to make a reservation. Otherwise, golf carts may be available in person, but they will be on a first-come-first-served basis. It is also important to familiarise yourself with the rules for golf cart use to ensure a positive and safe experience.

Now, Joanne, did you know that Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort also has so many incredible offerings that you should not miss on your next Disney vacation? First, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review at Pioneer Hall is a fan-favourite among Walt Disney World Guests, and its popular return since the COVID pandemic only further demonstrates how loved this show is. If you like finger-lickin' good comfort food and singing along to some traditional songs, definitely do not pass on the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. Second, if you prefer a quieter dinner, however, I always enjoy eating at Trail's End Restaurant, located right next to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. These offerings require reservations, so book them 60 days before your trip! Lastly, Chip 'N Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long is finally back at the Resort and is a fun activity to experience with your family. Not only do you get to spend time with your favourite chipmunks, but you can also sing along to some of your favourite tunes and eat some marshmallows! What could possibly be more magical?

I hope this was helpful, Joanne, and that you will have the best day ever on your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation. If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your trip, please don't hesitate to reach back out. We are always happy to help fellow wilderness explorers!

    Have a magical day,
