Hi - We are staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness in March. This is our first time staying there and we are used to staying in a room close to everything. How far are the cabins from the gift shop and food? We won't be using golf cart! TY!

Hi Shannon! The Fort Wilderness Cabins are a favorite place for us to stay when visiting Walt Disney World. The atmosphere of this resort cannot be duplicated anywhere else on property. It is relaxing and peaceful and quiet unlike the rush of a typical resort.

The cabin loops are not located close to the Trading Post but you can either drive or take the internal bus. These buses come quite often and rarely will you have more then a ten minute wait. They will stop directly in front of the Trading Post making it easy to come and go. Trails End restaurant is located down at the marina area and these internal buses again will be able to take you there.

We use the internal bus system and have found it very reliable. The entire resort is also entwined with sidewalks so if you choose to take the walk from place to place you can do it safely. Many times we will walk to a location and then take the bus back to the cabin area. Along the way you just might find a few animal friends such as deer, squirrels, armadillos, and turkeys!
