We are staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness in July & are wondering if the store & laundry facilities are close to the Cabins. Also, do I have to carry my luggage to the Cabins or is there a way to have it sent to our cabins after we check in?

Hi Dorothy! Fort Wilderness is one of my favorite spots to stay when visiting Walt Disney World. We now have a motor coach and use that but the family all uses the cabins! You will love the quiet atmosphere that surrounds you and the different varieties of recreation that you can only find there. When you check in just tell them you do not have a car and you will need to be taken to the cabin assigned to you. They have vans that will drop off and pick up guests when they arrive and depart. If your cabin is not ready you will be welcome to store the luggage there and use the internal buses to cruise through the property or hop on the park buses. The main bus stop is located right next to the check-in building. There are numerous laundry facilties located throughout the loops. They are mainly in the camping/rv loops so the proximity to the closest one will depend on which cabin loop you are assigned. The closest cabin loops to a comfort station would be loop 2100 and 2200. If you need washing supplies you can purchase them at the main trading post near the main pool area. If you choose not to do your own laundry and take time out of your fun you can always use the Disney service. In each cabin you will find the laundry bag and slip to fill out. You can drop that off at the check-in building or call housekeeping to pick it up for you. It will be delivered back to your cabin the next day or same day if you get it in before 8am. If you have any more questions about Fort Wilderness I would love to help and assist your planning!
