We will be staying in a cabin end of Feb 2011, I have been reading up on it and everyone recommended renting a golfcart. Can you rent them for cheaper off site and if you park them at a bus stop for the day, is there any worry about it being stolen? Thank

Hi, Diane! You're going to love staying in a Cabin at Fort Wilderness.  Our family loves the wide open spaces and recreation options at the Fort. However, because it is such a huge resort, it helps to have some mode of transportation such as bikes or a golf cart.

Golf carts can be rented at The Outpost for about $59 (+ tax) per day, and you may be able to find them cheaper from an outside company.  However, you should call Fort Wilderness first before you check with any outside golf cart rental companies at 407-824-2900.  I've recently got wind of some changes in policy, and you don't want to put down a deposit or make a reservation if the resort has different stipulations now.  Regardless, you definitely want to make a reservation for a golf cart before you leave home.

In addition,  if you drive a cart to the bus stop or to the boat launch for the day (or park it outside your cabin overnight), you will take your key with you.  Therefore, there's no fear of someone driving away in your cart.  I hope this helps you plan.  Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
