Guests in ride car for GOTG - Guardians of the Galaxy

    I am staying at The Boardwalk with tickets to Epcot After Hours. Can you access the park at 7 from the back entrance in order to get to the front of the park for the event check in or do I need to find transportation to the front of the park?

    Hi there Andrew and welcome to planDisney!

    From the sounds of it, you seem to be a part of the special planDisney After Dark crowd: the folks who know and enjoy what it's like to experience the Theme Parks after the daytime crowds have made their way out and the After Hours adventurers take off to rule the night! The first Disney After Hours at EPCOT event of the year took place this past week and I was actually also at EPCOT that day so I am happy to provide you with some first-hand knowledge from what I gathered before the event: 

    • As I was entering the park after eating at Disney's Boardwalk, I noticed Disney After Hours ticket holders taking advantage of the entrance at International Gateway (adjacent to the Disney Skyliner and World Traveler) and entering right at 7:00 p.m. EST. They were being directed by the Cast Members there to check-in at the front entrance of EPCOT in order to attain their special event wristbands however, and there did not appear to be any other wristband distribution locations. (Bear in mind that policies and procedures may change over the course of the events this summer, but the friendly Cast Members mentioned that Disney After Hours attendees could access EPCOT via the International Gateway entrance at the present time.)
    • It appears as though the snack carts scattered around EPCOT with popcorn and ice cream novelties remained closed until the official event start time, but I also noticed that guests with wristbands were allowed to enter the queues for rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind as early at 9:00 p.m. EST, so be sure to keep an eye out in case that's an option for you when you go! Event attendees were able to enter the standby queue directly and ride as many times as they wished, which may be a risk to the precious amount of time you have at the event. (If you're absolutely fine with adventuring well after midnight, I recommend either going early or saving it for last!)
    • If there's anything that you'd like to see, purchase or experience in the EPCOT World Showcase pavilions between China and Morocco, I recommend that you check them out early before the event begins as they began clearing guests and closing off access to that stretch around that part of the World Showcase Lagoon for the duration of the Disney After Hours event, especially considering that there were no attractions nor dining locations available there after EPCOT had officially closed to day guests.
