We'll be staying at Bay Lake Tower for 8 days in Feb. We've been to WDW a number of times, but this will be our son's 1st WDW trip. He will also be celebrating his 2nd birthday while at WDW. Any suggestions to make this visit and celebration extra special?

    Hi Ross!

There is no better place to celebrate a birthday than at Walt Disney World!

A character breakfast is a great way to start.  I would recomend booking Chef Mickey's.  It is located at the Contemporary Resort which is right next door to the Bay Lake Tower.  The characters ready to celebrate with your son include Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.  We brought with us a birthday card for all the characters to sign rather than an autograph book just to make it a little more special. You can make your dining reservations by calling (407) WDW-DINE or you can click here to make your reservations online.

Once you are at the parks pick up a free Happy Birthday button at Guest Services.  You will be stopped by countless Cast members throughout the day who will wish your son Happy Birthday!

You can bring some decorations from home to decorate your room while he is sleeping or you can have the dream makers at Disney florist do it for you.  You can visit their website at for ideas and prices.

If you are planning any table service meals that night you can order a birthday cake.  Disney offers 2 different types of birthday cakes. A 6 inch celebation cake is $21.00 that you can pre-order when you book your reservation or a more personalized cake that can be arranged by calling the cake hotline at (407) 827-2253.  Prices vary for these cakes.
