Hi Jamie,
Sure thing! I highly recommend for your group to visit the Downtown Disney Area together. Currently Downtown Disney is being transformed and expanded into what will be known in the future as Disney Springs.
Downtown Disney Area has an abundance of restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and even some special events. You do not need theme park tickets to visit Downtown Disney so it is perfect place to sightsee and enjoy lunch with your budget conscious family. Follow the previous link to read more about the different dining venues, shopping, and activities to help you with your planning. My favorite "budget" counter service restaurant in Downtown Disney is Earl of Sandwich. The portions are large and the sandwiches are yummy! Of course I usually save a little room for a stop by Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop too.
One of the best things about shopping at Downtown Disney is that it has high appeal for every age group. My own children love to visit fun places such as The Lego Store, Once Upon A Toy, and World of Disney. While I love visiting those shops as well I also make a point of stopping by Tren-D, Marketplace Co-Op, and Basin. I think you will find the Downtown Disney area to be full of fun for you and your family no matter what your budget may be.
Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question Jamie. Please let us know if you have any further Disney vacation planning questions, we are always happy to help!
Blessings,
