Hi, Julie! Welcome to planDisney.
Oh wow, what a magical trip you've planned!
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is such a fun place to stay, especially for kids (and kids-at-heart). Between the larger-than-life characters and the
immersive pool areas, your granddaughter is going to feel like she’s celebrating her birthday inside a Disney movie. Sounds like a memory-making trip for sure!
Regretfully, you cannot request an air mattress for a standard room at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. This is not a service that Disney provides. I spoke to a Cast Member, and rollaway beds can be requested at check-in, as long as you do not exceed the room's occupancy limit. But availability is limited and cannot be guaranteed before you arrive at the hotel. These rollaway beds come with an additional cost per night, and cannot be used to increase the room’s maximum occupancy.
As far as I know, the maximum occupancy for a standard room at Disney's Art of Animation Resort is four adults, plus one child under the age of 3 in a crib. You may want to consider
contacting the Hotel Reservations team to make sure your party size will be okay upon check-in, and consider modifying to a Family Suite. The good news is that the Family Suites at Art of Animation are designed with flexible sleeping options in mind. With the queen bed, the pull-down Murphy bed, and the pull-out couch, you’ve got space for five Guests already built in.
Here’s a little tip: if your granddaughter wants to feel extra special for her birthday, stop by the front desk and ask for a complimentary birthday button. Cast Members (and even Mickey himself) love spotting those buttons, and she may just get some extra birthday wishes.
