We are staying at the Art of Animation resort and celebrating a birthday. Since we are on a budget, we will be decorating the room ourselves. Do you know where we can get some inexpensive balloons? Also, can we have candles in our room for the cake?

    Hi Amber!

Walt Disney World is the best place to celebrate a birthday!  Art of Animation is a beautiful resort.  You will not be disappointed!

My kid's birthdays are only one day apart, so we like to take them to Disney every year to celebrate and do all of our own in-room decorating.  If you will have a car, there are several stores just outside of Disney.  Your best option is probably Super Walmart, which is less than a 10 minute drive.  If you are just wanting balloons or other small items, pack them in your suitcase and bring them with you.  This will save you time and most likely money.

Having an open flame in a resort room is against fire code, so having candles is a no-no at Disney.  If you will be dining at a Disney World restaurant, be sure to tell your servers that you are celebrating a birthday.  You will receive a special birthday cupcake WITH a candle.

Don't forget to pick up a birthday button when you check-in!

    Happy New Year!
