We are staying at art of animation following a Disney Wish cruise. Are we able to get to the Boardwalk area for dinner in the Skyliner? What are some recommmended restaurants in the boardwalk area?

    Ahoy Judy!

Oh boy, oh boy!  A Disney Cruise and a visit to Walt Disney World Resort - it sounds like the best vacation ever!  I'm so happy you stopped by to see us here at planDisney, as the Disney BoardWalk is a fabulous destination full of some of my favorite dining and activities outside of the parks!

Since you're staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, you'll be able to take the Disney Skyliner to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT.  When you disembark the Skyliner and exit down the ramp, you can turn left to head towards the park entrance, but turning right will take you over to the Disney BoardWalk.

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World Resort is located at Disney's Yacht Club Resort - Ale & Compass Restaurant.  It's a beautiful setting and features some fabulous dishes.  My favorite is the New England Seafood Pot Pie, but when I visited a few months ago with friends, they raved about the steaks as well!  I've also heard they have a wonderful breakfast here, but I haven't had the chance to try that yet.  Speaking of breakfast, my oldest son and I had a great meal at Trattoria al Forno previously.  You'll find this Table-Service location near Disney's BoardWalk Inn, and it's open for both breakfast and dinner.  Looking for some lighter bites?  Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Disney's Beach Club Resort offers a retro vibe, with sandwiches and burgers as the stars of the menu.  When we dined here, our family had to order the famous Kitchen Sink Sundae to share - it was quite the dessert!

If you'd like to enjoy a character dining experience, you can find Minnie's Beach Bash Breakfast held each morning at Cape May Cafe in Disney's Beach Club Resort.  While characters are subject to change, we recently dined with Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Goofy.  The buffet had lots of yummy choices, and the character interactions were great!  Another popular choice for character dining outside of the parks is Breakfast á la Art at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera.  While this isn't on the Disney BoardWalk, you can also access this location by hopping off the Skyliner at Disney's Riviera Resort.  Both of these locations offer character dining at breakfast only.

There is more around the BoardWalk than just great dining, though.  Surrey Bike Rentals are available at Disney's BoardWalk Inn for a leisurely ride around the water.  Just a short walk from Disney's BoardWalk, over by the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, is Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf.  The last time we played this course, my husband made quite the comeback on the final few holes, so I think I need a rematch on our next trip!

Judy, I hope this information has been helpful and that you enjoy a great vacation!  Please stop by to see us again if you have any other questions!

    Bon Voyage!
