I will be staying at Art of Animation with my dog in March. Will people enter my room when I am at the parks to do safety checks? I am worried someone might accidentally let my dog out of the room, since the Little Mermaid rooms open directly to outside.

    Hi Sharon!

Welcome to planDisney! I have my own lapdog at home, and I love hearing about other Guests bringing their four-legged friends to Walt Disney World Resort.

When you arrive at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, please stop by the Front Desk and request your Pluto’s Welcome Kit. This kit includes a variety of canine comforts like dog dishes, doggie bags, and a map of the dog-friendly areas of the Resort.  You can also view a map of the Dog Relief Areas at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in the Walt Disney World Resort Pet Policies

As part of the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, any room may be entered for maintenance, safety, security, or any other purpose, even if the “Room Occupied” hanger is on the room door. Pluto’s Welcome Kit will include a door hanger that will notify the Cast Members that a playful pup may be waiting on the other side of the door. In terms of Housekeeping, services will only be available when your tail-wagger is not in the room. Housekeeping visits can be scheduled by dialing the “Housekeeping” button on your in-room phone, or a Housekeeping Cast Member may contact you.

I believe if you are taking these precautions your pooch will be perfectly protected, Sharon. As you can see in the Pet Policy, you may not leave your dog unattended in your room for longer than seven hours. If you are concerned about leaving your furry friend alone in your Disney Resort hotel, I encourage you to consider a stay at Best Friends Pet Hotel for overnight or daytime boarding.

I hope this was helpful, Sharon! Enjoy your Walt Disney World Resort vacation with your canine companion! If you have any future questions, please come back and see us at planDisney!
