Staying at AoA in Nov/Dec for son's 4th birthday. Trying to surprise my son with my parents, who will be staying at POP. Any suggestions for surprising him on MK day? Do it at park? Or have them come to our hotel room before park? Any other ideas?

    Hi Holly,

Oh my goodness, the surprise you have planned for your son is so exciting!

There are a number of different ways you could surprise your son.  The safest bet would be for your parents to meet you at your room at Disney's Art of Animation before you leave for the Magic Kingdom.  They'll have a specific room number so there's no chance you'll miss them.  Then they can ride to the Magic Kingdom with you.

Another fun option would be to meet them for breakfast or lunch at a specific restaurant.  For instance, if you wanted to have lunch at the Columbia Harbour House, you could have them waiting for you at a table near the condiment stand on the second floor.  This area is less crowded, typically, and so your son would certainly spot them as you were searching for a table to enjoy lunch.

One more possibility would be to tell your son that you NEED to take a very special picture of the Partners statue (directly in front of Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom) before you start riding rides.  You could plan to meet your parents there so they could join you in the photo.  That would be pretty exciting too!

Let us know if you need additional suggestions.  Have fun with your family at Walt Disney World!
