Hi, Malorie! Welcome to planDisney.
I love that you're thinking ahead so you can spend more time soaking in the magic of the Christmas season. Staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort gives you a fun base camp for all things Disney, and a visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge to explore holiday décor and nature trails sounds like a wonderful idea.
You can certainly drive your own car over to
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. As a Guest staying on property, you are eligible for complimentary standard self-parking at the resort. Just be ready to show proof you're staying at Disney's Art of Animation. However, since you're visiting merely to walk the trails and view the décor, without a
dining reservation at the hotel, parking may be subject to restrictions (especially during busy times) because the resort aims to ensure parking is available for overnight Guests. Therefore, it's possible that you could be turned away if there's not much parking. I anticipate you'll be ok, though.
Here's a tip: Aim for late afternoon or early evening to arrive, when the décor is all lit up and the light is golden for photos. Then park at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, enjoy the majestic lobby, walk the savanna trails as the sun sets, and grab a drink at
Victoria Falls Lounge or some food at
The Mara.
Have a great time, Malorie!
Mike
