Welcome, Linsey. I'm so happy you found us here at planDisney. And since every good run deserves a little "Zero to Hero" energy from
Hercules, let’s lace up our sandals and get your question answered!
To park at a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you must either be a registered Guest or have an
advance dining reservation for one of their table-service restaurants. Please note that there is typically a 3-hour window during which you can park at a resort for a dining reservation. It's also important to be aware that there are times when parking at another resort is limited, especially on busy holidays like the 4th of July. Even Phil from
Hercules would probably tell you that a little planning goes a long way before setting off on your heroic training montage around the
Walt Disney World Resort!
While there isn't currently a designated running path at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can usually use the sidewalk between
Jambo House and
Kidani Village to run. Furthermore, depending on which part of the resort you are staying in, you can use the
Zahanati Fitness Center at Jambo House or the
Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center at Kidani Village to use one of their machines to get a run in. These sound like the perfect places for a little
Hercules training montage moment, minus the flying Pegasus and angry hydras, of course.
Once you've gotten that run in, you can do what I'm best at: carb-loading at the
restaurants at your resort. Animal Kingdom Lodge has, hands down, the best dining of all the resort hotels at Walt Disney World, in my humble opinion. And for breakfast, you cannot beat
Boma - Flavors of Africa. It's a buffet with both familiar and adventurous options. Plus, at breakfast, you can typically order the
Zebra Dome Cold Brew, a morning cocktail with the flavor of the classic Zebra Domes this resort is known for (and it includes a Zebra Dome on top, of course!). Even if you're not interested in a morning cocktail, I'm pretty sure you won't regret a visit to this and the other restaurants. After all, even heroes need a good feast after their training is complete!
Linsey, happy running! And remember, sometimes you’ve just got to "go the distance." If you have any other questions,
I’m here for you!

Matt
