Hi Ann,
One of my best Walt Disney World memories is of sitting on a balcony at
Animal Kingdom Lodge with my youngest daughter, when she was about your child's age, watching giraffes frolic right in front of us as we waited for my husband and older daughter to wake up. When we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge again recently, many years later, we both were nostalgic about that experience.
I hope you make similar long-term memories on your visit!
Because safety is paramount at Walt Disney World, you will find locks for the sliders at the top of the door, well out of reach of little hands. Even though I had no little ones with me on my two stays at Animal Kingdom Lodge this year, I noticed that the upper locks were always engaged by the housekeeping staff each day so that no one could get onto the balcony accidentally.
Certainly you will want to be sure an adult always accompanies your little one on the balcony. It's a great place to snuggle and watch the zebras, antelope and giraffes play.
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ann. Please let us know if you have any other questions about making the most of your vacation with your little one. You'll also find more helpful tips in this guide for
visiting with little ones and preschoolers.
Enjoy!
Wilma
