We are staying at All-Stars resort for 5 nights then we join the Disney Fantasy for a cruise. On the last day, we disembark at 7.30am and our flight home to the UK isn't until 5pm. Can we stay at a Disney Hotel during the day as a visitor?

    Welcome aboard, Alison!

How exciting that you’re looking ahead to your fabulous Disney Cruise Line vacation; the Disney Fantasy is my favorite ship, and I know you’re going to have an incredible time. From the impeccable personalized service to the delicious foods and Broadway-caliber entertainment, there’s just nothing like a Disney cruise! I’m happy to help you think through the logistics of your departure day.

Unfortunately, the Walt Disney World Resort Collection hotels do not offer a rate as a Day Guest. Even if you were to reserve it for that evening but not plan to stay overnight, your room may not be ready until later in the afternoon and you may not be able to enjoy it prior to your 5:00 P.M. flight. While your cruise itinerary may read all ashore at 7:30 A.M., you will likely disembark a little later than that if you choose to have breakfast in the main dining room (time will be communicated to you based on your dinner seating assignment). For your international flight home, you’ll want to allow plenty of time at the airport, which is about an hour’s drive from Port Canaveral and thirty minutes from the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is a full hotel located inside the airport terminal. They offer day-use rates to enjoy hotel amenities like the pool and room service without staying overnight. If you want to spend the day there, you can reserve Disney Cruise Line Ground Transportation from the port to the airport and then check into the hotel when you arrive. This leaves the driving and travel logistics up to Disney, and you arrive in seamless style at the airport after departing the port that morning. You’ll have the comfort of a hotel room for the day plus food and fun without having to navigate anywhere else or manage your luggage at multiple stops.

Here are some additional ideas to make the most of this day:

    • Port Canaveral has many car rental locations with a free shuttle from the ship. You could rent a car for the day for maximum flexibility and have a place to store your luggage until you return the vehicle at the airport.
    • Disney Springs is my go-to place for a bit of Disney when I don’t have a theme park ticket. You can shop, dine, and explore for a final taste of the magic before heading home.
    • The Kennedy Space Center is near Port Canaveral and is a world-famous visitor center full of exciting things to learn and explore.
    • Florida’s space coast boasts miles of beautiful beaches and shoreline for a relaxing afternoon with a great meal at many seaside restaurants near Port Canaveral.

I hope this inspires some ideas for a memorable last day of your special vacation, Alison! It’s a sad moment to leave the gorgeous cruise ship after a week onboard, but I hope you carry home memories to last a lifetime.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you finalize this trip; our planDisney team answers questions about both the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line so we’re happy to help in any way!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Amy
