Hiya, Molly! Welcome to planDisney. I'm so glad you found us--there's nothing we love more than sharing all of our best tips and tricks for a magical vacation at
Walt Disney World Resort. It looks like you'll be heading to sunny Florida in just a few weeks and I am sure you're getting excited! Tie a napkin 'round your neck,
cherie, and let's chat about some breakfast options for your trip.
I do love to start our Disney days with a hearty breakfast, and there are many great options at the theme parks and the Disney
Resort Hotels. If you're specifically interested in a buffet without characters, our family's favorite is
Boma at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. At Boma, you'll find traditional breakfast favorites (gotta have those Mickey waffles!), as well as delicious African-inspired dishes. My husband loves the turkey
bobotie, which is a casserole-style dish featuring meat and eggs.
Some other buffets I recommend include
Cape May Cafe at
Disney's Beach Club Resort,
1900 Park Fare at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Tusker House at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. These do feature characters at breakfast, but I find them to be a bit more relaxed. My favorite non-buffet breakfast is
Kona Cafe at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort--the macadamia nut pancakes are legendary! We make this our "farewell breakfast" on departure day to take a bit of the sting out of leaving.
Regarding getting to your bountiful buffet breakfast, traveling to locations at or near the theme parks is easiest if you're relying on Walt Disney World transportation. For instance, you could take the bus from your hotel to
Magic Kingdom Park, then take the Monorail for a meal at 1900 Park Fare or Kona Cafe. However, if you have your own vehicle or use rideshare, Boma (or any other restaurant) is just a quick ride away. I frequently use rideshare to travel between two locations that don't have direct transportation--there are usually lots of drivers available and the fares are quite low.
Molly, you are within your 60-day booking window to make dining reservations, so you can go ahead and check availability to find something that works for your group. If the exact reservation you're hoping for isn't available initially, don't fret! Guests' plans change all the time, so you can keep an eye on the
My Disney Experience app and perhaps snag something last minute. I've had lots of luck finding a coveted reservation--I'll wish on the Evening Star that whatever you are hoping for works out!
I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes! Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney, and please come back anytime if we can help with other questions as your vacation countdown continues.
See Ya Real Soon!
