Staying at AKV Feb. 28-Mar. 5. Party of 2 grandparents 2 parents, 2 DD ages 7 & 5. Been researching, but feel on overload. Water park option but not park hopper. What ADR's would you recommend? When can they be made? What attractions are essential?

    Kim:

Rest easy.  The hardest part in planning a Disney vacation is actually deciding your dates and hotel!  And you've done that!

As for dining, Disney allows you to make Advanced Dining Reservations now 180 days out from your stay, so you're good to go.  I would recommend several buffet restaurants so that you can accommodate lots of different tastes in your party along with a few Character Dining experiences.

    • Magic Kingdom: Crystal Palace.  One of the freshest buffets with a good selection of American entrees and fresh salads.  Pooh and Friends will provide some good pictures for the whole family!
    • Epcot: Akershus. My favorite recommendation for princess dining, and I would suggest a late brunch over the more adventurous dinner menu.  I rarely suggest that you eat at two table service restaurants in one day, but two others for you to consider for dinner while at Epcot would be Teppan Edo, where the chefs will entertain you as they cook, or Biergarten for its fun oompah floor show and meat & potatoes buffet.
    • Disney's Hollywood Studios: 50's Prime Time.  This suggestion is more for the grandparents, but the entire family will enjoy the menu as well as the fun.
    • Animal Kingdom: Rainforest Cafe.  Our kids love the animatronic animals.  The menu is lengthy to accommodate all tastes.

I would strongly suggest that you also make reservations at Animal Kingdom Villas' Sanaa.  You'll enjoy seeing the safari animals up close!  (And if I could make one suggestion for you to consider:  The villas have a fabulous pool area just for AKV occupants.  You may find that your water park tickets are a bit of an overkill....You can always upgrade your tickets once you get there and see for yourselves.)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
