Hi Emily,
Thanks so much for bringing another great question to us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You are going to LOVE Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge! It's an incredibly immersive Resort hotel with LOTS to see and do, and I'd definitely recommend asking for a Recreation Calendar when you arrive and participating in the wonderful cultural activities that are offered.
With your trip planned for May, crowds should be smaller than average (with the exception of Memorial Day weekend, which is a pretty popular time to visit), however, there will still be some other Mouseketeers there enjoying magical vacations. Don't forget, though, that once you've enjoyed your original three FastPass+ selections, you can use the My Disney Experience app or an in-park kiosk to make additional selections, one at a time, even at other parks. I'd definitely take advantage of that when you hop over to Disney's Animal Kingdom. If you arrive early enough in the afternoon, you could still catch a Festival of the Lion King or Finding Nemo - The Musical show, and Kilimanjaro Safaris is really beautiful to experience at sunset. I would definitely recommend staying
after dark, too. The Tree of Life Awakenings and Rivers of Light are both awesome to see, and Pandora - The World of Avatar is a completely different experience after dark. The entire land comes to life with the magic of bioluminescence and is simply breathtaking. At the end of our magical day, my family loves to grab a tasty treat from
Zuri's Sweet Shop. Our favorite is the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie...mmm, but
everything there looks absolutely delicious!
Please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip, Emily, and have a truly magical vacation!
Missy
