    We will be staying at AKL on June 2 & 3. That Thursday is an early entry day to MK. Would we be better off driving our own car, or taking the Disney bus? Will we be able to get to MK early enought to make rope drop taking the bus?

    Hi Gloria,

    My rule of thumb is that it always makes sense to take the resort bus to the Magic Kingdom.  If you drive you will have to first go to the Ticket and Transportation Center where you need to board a boat or a monorail to get to the entrance of Magic Kingdom.  The resort buses take you directly to the entrance so it's almost always quicker.

    The resort buses begin picking up an hour before the resort opens.  You will have plenty of time to get there before the robe drops.

    When it comes to the other parks I have found that the travel time is pretty much the same whether you take the resort bus or drive yourself.  At the most you may save about five to ten minutes driving yourself to a park other than the Magic Kingdom.
