We r staying at AKL in July/2015 and having rental car, would I save anytime by driving to parks instead of using Disney buses since I am DVC member I wouldn't have to pay for parking, any suggestions?

Hi Russell! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You'll save some time and convenience initially, cutting down the travel time to get to your destinations, but you'll also need to factor in the time to find parking and then the walk to the entrance.

Coming from Georgia, we always drive to Walt Disney World Resort so we always have our car. Unless we're trying to get to a dining reservation we typically rely on the free Disney transportation. I love not worrying about parking and my kids enjoy the different modes of transportation available.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is the farthest out, so if you are concerned about travel time to and from the theme parks and want to avoid crowds then you can absolutely drive your rental car - there are no parking fees as a Disney Vacation Club member. Of course you could try both ways and then decide which option works best for you.

From Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge it's about a 20 minute ride to Downtown Disney and 30 minutes to Magic Kingdom. The buses come very often so you won't have to wait long going or coming. To give you an idea about approximate travel times, the distances to the theme parks from Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge are:
    Animal Kingdom - 2 miles
    Hollywood Studios - 6 miles
    Epcot - 8 miles
    Magic Kingdom - 12 miles

I hope you have a magical and memorable Disney Vacation!
