Hiya, Gina! Welcome back to planDisney and thanks for stopping by with another fantastic planning question.
Before you know it, you'll arrive at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge to embark on your oh-so-magical adventure at the Most Magical Place on Earth. With a three-week split stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge and
Disney's Old Key West Resort, you and your family are in for an unforgettable holiday! My family and I do a split stay, where we stay at two different Resorts, almost every time we visit, and I love exploring the details and enjoying the amenities of the different Resorts. Now, let's get this planning party started!
I think you will be happy to hear that Bell Services will gladly transfer your luggage from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Old Key West for you. Just pack up all your things and call Bell Services from your room's phone about 30 minutes before you're ready to head out for the day. Let them know that you will be transferring Resorts and how many bags you have. They'll come pick up your luggage right from your room and have it sent to your new Resort. When your new room is ready, just call Bell Services for your things to be sent right up to your new room!
Sometimes, it can take up to 5:00 p.m. for your luggage to be ready to be delivered to your new room, so just be sure to pack anything you may need, such as medication, bathing suits, or change of clothes, in a park bag to take with you.
When you arrive at your Resort, I recommend snapping a photo of the Resort Activities board located in or near the lobby so that you'll always have a list of activities and the schedule with you. At Animal Kingdom Lodge, my must-dos are enjoying the best dining options at Walt Disney World,
great pools at both Jambo House and Kidani Village and the animal-centric Resort activities. One of my favorites is the
Starlight Safari, but my family also loved viewing the animals with night-vision goggles from the Pembe Savanna Overlook at Kidani Village. The String of Memories Activities is also a wonderful way for the whole family to learn about African culture while having a blast making crafts and memories together. You can honestly have an unforgettable adventure here without even leaving your Resort!
At Old Key West, besides relaxing poolside, grabbing a drink at the Gurgling Suitcase or having a fantastic meal at
Olivia's Cafe, a must-do for my family is taking the leisurely boat ride to Disney Springs for some live music and shopping.
Renting bikes or
surrey bikes is also one of my family's favorite ways to explore the Resort and nearby areas while having a blast and enjoying the Florida breeze. We are in Old Key West, after all! Also, be sure to stop by the Conch Flats Community Hall to enjoy perfect rainy-day activities, such as complimentary foosball, pool, ping pong and more, or enjoy making arts and crafts for a small fee. It's open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., so enjoy!
I hope this was helpful, Gina, and I hope you and your family have the most magical and memorable holiday. Please feel free to stop by any time with any questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in planDisney!
Chase the wind and touch the sky,
Mandy
