We are staying at AKL for the first time, and plan to dedicate our entire first day to it. What are some fun and unique things to do in early June with my DH(45) DS(13) and myself DM(45)? Thanks!

Hi Gloria, Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel!

You are going to love the Animal Kingdom Lodge! We stayed there several years ago and it quickly became one of our favorite Resorts. Like you, we dedicated our first day to discovering the Lodge and all that it had to offer. Given that you are visiting in June, you will want to make use of the wonderful swimming pools. I'm not sure if you are staying in Jambo House or Kidani Village, but both have fantastic pools. I recommend that you try them both out.

The animals on the Savanna are always a treat, you could spend a great deal of time just watching them. In addition the Lodge itself is a sight to see. There are many intricate carvings and African items. Keep an eye out for the "Cultural Safari's" that take place in a room off of the lobby. Cast Members from South Africa often show slides and talk about their native cultures and traditions. My children learned to play the drums and enjoyed looking at photographs. There are stories around the fire-pit in the evening as well.

Have you made reservations at Boma for dinner yet? It is a fantastic meal, that is a "must do" on every one of our Disney trips.

I hope that your family enjoys the Animal Kingdom Lodge as much as we do. Have a magical vacation!
