We are staying at AKL with my elderly mom who needs wheelchair for long walks. Can we put it on the buses or is it best to rent a car? We will also have a 4 year old. Does AKL have wheelchairs to rent for week or just at parks?

Hi Susan!  The resorts do not have wheel chairs that they rent to the guests for their stay but there are many great local companies who will do this and deliver to the resort where you have your reservation and then pick up at the end of your stay.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful resort but the rooms can be quite far from the main lobby and bus area.  You will definitely want a wheel chair for your mom to use around the resort.  The wheel chairs can be used on the buses as well as electric scooters.  If you feel you would be more comfortable renting a car then by all means do this but it is not necessary.  The buses will get you as close as any parking spot for the most part so you aren't gaining anything with location.

One of the companies that my mother has used is Walker Mobility and you can read more information by clicking HERE.  It is by no means the only good company that provides great service so feel free to investigate them all.
