Staying at AKL August 3-10, very worried about bus and transportiation situation. Thinking about switching to POLY, to be closer to parks with more options. Any thoughts on this idea?

    Hi Brandon!

I've stayed at both Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Polynesian, and think both are fantastic places to call home during a Disney Vacation.  In fact, during an upcoming trip this summer, we are splitting our time between the new Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Poly.  Transportation from AKL to all of the them parks is via bus.  We actually found it to be convenient and very reliable.  We never waited more than a few minutes for a bus, and were quickly on our way directly to the park of our choice.  There are so many fabulous and truly unique benefits of staying at AKL, including the unprecedented access to exotic safari animals, some amazing restaurants (including the brand new Sanaa) a truly magnificent lobby and an incredible African watering hole-themed pool.  I would not let transportation deter you from staying here.

The Polynesian is a fabulous resort.  It's tropical theming definitely make you feel as though you've landed in Maui.  In addition, the fact that the monorail runs through the property make getting to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot simple and convenient.  You will need to take a bus to visit Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.  The Poly also has a wonderful volcano-themed pool, and the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show.

I don't think you'll be disappointed at either resort.  Both are lovely, deluxe properties with incredible amenities.  If it would make you more comfortable to be on the monorail line, obviously, the Poly is a better choice, however, by no means do I feel transportation from Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deterrent from staying at this wonderful property.  Disney Mom Jodi is a big fan of AKL.  Feel free to search her opinions on the panel for another perspective.

Have a great trip whichever resort you chose!
